Letters 445: The Other Half of the Sky III

Andy Warhol once said:

"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”

To you whom I haven't met yet,

Did you have a favourite day or time? For me, Sunday, usually between 12.00 p.m. & 6.00 p.m. is the time that I called my sanity hours. It seems like a long time but in fact, it is amazingly short period to get anything done. During these six hours, I have to do the laundry, clean the house, go grocery shopping at Tesco & once in a blue moon, cook up some idea about what to have for dinner. In between, I have to squeeze in business lunches & call people to discuss work stuff.

To some, this may look easy because I am still single, but for me, it is very simple. I am willing to bet my bottom ringgit that if men were the one having babies, the situation would have gotten much worse. Look at how the stay-at-home mother living their life! I have a friend who raised two children in a very remote town of Balik Pulau here in Penang. We recently met & she admitted that she battled daily suicidal impulses. She said she could not have coped had her mother did not stayed with her. Luckily for her, she had a sympathetic husband who tried to do his share. There are cases where the wives are not so fortunate.

Dear you, more guy may choose to stay unwed & worse still, out of the workforce. I am sure I do not have to go into details of Malaysia current economic situation. But I thanked to the Almighty God almost everyday for I am still able to have a good life, enjoying good food, in the pink of health, yearly travel, earning good salary, owned several businesses, a car (everyone jokingly called my car as Ferrari California, but seriously, it is just a budget local mode of transportation) & two houses. Some people at my age, they still searching for the meaning of their life.

Well, I just haven't met you yet. But I have no regrets about being a single guy. For me, when a man loves a woman, that love should be hers forever, not to be share with other woman, not to be burden with financial difficulties & to live as if there is no tomorrow. I am sure, somehow someway in future, I can finally found you. Until that time, live your life to the fullest my hummingbird.

p/s I can't wait to cook a lot of nice food for you in future, not just on Sunday, hopefully everyday.

For the other half of my sky,

The Half Moon Serenades.

6th of September 2015.
