Love, Almost Paradise (The Story of Wijaya)

Anais Nin once said:
"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."

Mr.Wijaya is 90 years old & married for 70 years. Even when he is sick, he refused hospital treatment because nobody will take care of his ill 85 years old wife, who suffered kidney failure & multiple health problems at home.

His dedication to his wife and her well being is above all else including his own being. During the past 5 years, there were many occasions where he was sick, his family would admit him to the hospital for him to receive treatment after which he received a medical infusion, he would feel better & barged out of the bed & ask to go home.

This happened many times in many years & everyone were confused why he would do so. One time he couldn't breath and they rushed him to the hospital, in which after two hours he asked to go home again. His daughter broke down in tears and asked him why he wants to go home before he gets better.

He answered softly:

"Because your mother is at home alone and no one is taking care of her."

One day, for the first time he is in the hospital bed, sick, barely able to speak, with his wife at his side. Through out all of their 70 years together, it was always him standing by her side when she is sick. When she can't eat, he would try to sit by her side and feed her. When she doesn't have the strength to walk to the wash room, he would walk straight up with all his strength battling intense joint pains and walk her slowly to the wash room. When she was hospitalized, he would get up at 5 a.m. every day and visit her at the hospital.

Unfortunately, old Chinese people are not very open towards speaking their feeling towards/about their loved one. As such he didn't told anyone a story about how they met, how much he loves her and how they got together.

For me, his action speaks much louder than words and throughout the years the unconditional love he has given to his wife, his children and all his grand children are all the proof that groovy kind of love does exist.

To you whom I have met, for me, if two person is in love, it is infinite. I fell in love with you whenever we were together, then fell deeper in love with you in the months we were apart.

Long-distance relationship is hard. Before this, I'd always thought the words 'love' belongs to other man, but I bet you must have read my mind, and we fell in love.

Dear Sabrina, sometimes, on our way through the paradise called world, we meet someone who touches our heart in a way others don't. I hope I will always be someone who touch your heart, in a special way.

Until then, 388 love notes here still couldn't described how much I miss you here. Waiting for the time to see you again, my other half of sky.

Almost paradise,

The Half Moon Serenades.

Love, A Trembling Happiness (The Story of Bill & Glad Forward)

Khalil Gibran once said:

"For life & death are one, even as the river & the sea are one."

What if your partner forget the sweet memories? What if he or she forget the sweet embrace as a result of Alzheimer?

The touching story of Bill Forward & Glad Forward in Florida, United States of America enduring love through Alzheimer's has captured the hearts of people around the world. Bill made a short video documenting the love of him & his beloved wife, Glad and uploaded to YouTube.

Simply titled "What Is Love?" the video tells the story of Bill and Glad, how they met more than 50 years ago and the daily battle with Glad's advance stages of Alzheimer's. In the video, Bill tells of how he has to do everything for his wife, from the time she gets up until when they go to bed - from brushing her teeth to dressing and feeding her.

"I don't count it a burden whatsoever,'' he says.

"I  count it a great privilege to care for this one I have loved all these years.'' he added.

The couple, who spent much of their lives working to help lepers and orphans in India and Romania, met through Glad's brother, who was friends with Bill. He first knew her when she was about eight. In few months, they will celebrate their 50th anniversaries together.

It has been breaking my heart to watch Glad wither away over the last few years but it has also astounded me how Bill has gently cared for her. Perhaps, a groovy kind of love is the best words to describe their love.

To you whom I have met, love is a trembling happiness for me. 387 notes for you since the past three years still couldn't describe my feeling towards you.

Long-distance relationship is hard for both of us. But I hope in the dew of loneliness, our heart will always finds its morning and refreshed day by day. Never give up & built a wall between our love as a result of distance my hummingbird. If our heart is a dull wall, we can't expect the flower of love to blossom.

I love you Sabrina & the best thing about being in love with you was for every date we enjoyed together, it feels like the first time.

Until then, put in your heart the fact that I had fallen in love with you way before we knew and met each other. If 3 years ago, my mind told me, 'it might be you', now my mind said,  'it must be you".

Until we say the next hello,

The Half Moon Serenades.
