Kahlil Gibran once said:
"He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked."
For those who feel lost and weary, for those who are alone and deserted: there seems to be some missing ingredient. Some elusive property that makes the lives of others appear joyous, almost giddy, by comparison. While they struggle to bear each day, those around them seem to glide through life unscathed. What is it that separates these unfortunate individuals from the happy-go-lucky?
While it might sound cliche or trite, the missing ingredient is love. Those who are loved rarely struggle to find a purpose in life. It surrounds them in nearly everything they do. Love is across from them at the breakfast table. It snuggles next to them on a cold winter night. It walks with them under a rain-soaked umbrella. It brings them bunches of wildflowers, a cold sip of tea, or a crayola sunset on a crumpled sheet of paper.
To be loved is only a part of the missing ingredient. Rarely will love be found if one doesn't risk everything and offer this most tender emotion to others. All around us are people in need of compassion. A friendly smile, a gentle word of encouragement, help in a time of need. A bond is established, no matter how insignificant it might seem. From these brief moments, true relationships can blossom and grow. And even if these encounters never develop into anything more than a fleeting memory, they add texture and meaning to our lives.
But love is not purely a human emotion. Love comes from God above. He made us in His image, for His pleasure. It is His desire to shower us with His love, even when we haven't loved Him in return. There is no greater joy than to know the love of God and extend it back to Him. An eternal bond is created that transcends the physical limits of our universe. Regardless of our religion, whether Islam or Christian, we shared a common bond when it comes to love.
In Bible for example:
"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." Ephesians 5:1-2
There is no greater purpose in life than to love and be loved, by God and men. Nothing else can fill the void that exists inside our hearts when we look to the world, its temptations and its material rewards, to make us whole. Anything less than love will leave us lost, weary, alone and deserted.
In Al-Quran for example:
"And of His Signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you might find peace of mind in them, and He put between you love and compassion." Al - Anbiyaa 30:21.
As such, regardless of our religions or races, lets celebrate the beauty of love because we are one. And have yourself a merry Christmas with your loved one.
To you whom captured my heart before, on the 26th day of December, it would have been 3 years since the day you promised that you will love me everyday and forever. Your absence has gone through me, like thread through a needle, everything I do is stitched with its colors of hope.
Isn't it funny that on this day, something in me gets so lonely for, I don't know what exactly, but it's something that I don't mind so much not having at other times. Maybe it is about love. Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction. And maybe that's why the love is not there anymore in you.
I believe that I have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into my future lover's arms can only come later when I'm sure they won't laugh if I tripped. That's the love that I am looking for in my life.
I miss you. Not a day passed by without me thinking of you. But I need to move on in my life. All I can do now is hope, because I believed when we choose hope, everything is possible in our life. Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence.
And that is why I never gave up on love. Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.
Have yourself a merry Christmas if you ever read this.
